Melbourne's trains, trams and buses offer comprehensive public transport services.

Extending from the CBD in all directions, Melbourne's public transport network can help you explore every corner of this vibrant city.
During your visit you may see two types of tickets on public transport as Melbourne is moving from Metcards to a new smartcard ticketing system called myki. During the changeover you can use a Metcard or myki to travel on trains, trams and buses.
Always remember to validate your Metcard or touch on and off your myki each time you travel. Travelling without a valid ticket could lead to a fine.
You can buy your public transport tickets from premium stations, from ticket machines on trams and on most buses, of from the Melbourne Visitor Centre.
You can also use the public transport journey planner to plan your trip from A to B. Many attractions are listed in the journey planner – simply enter your origin and the name of the attraction in the destination box for a tailored trip plan.
