Moomba Festival 2015
Proudly owned and delivered by City of Melbourne, Moomba Festival celebrates Melbourne’s appetite for discovery with an extraordinary program of activities and events from 6 to 9 March 2015.
A much-loved staple on the Melbourne events calendar, Moomba has been growing its profile since 1955 and is now recognised as Australia’s largest community festival. Each year the iconic festival attracts enthusiastic crowds of all ages to the banks of the Yarra to enjoy its bustling carnival and family-friendly program of free entertainment, events and activities over the Labour Day long weekend.
This year Moomba invites you to engage your curiosity. Follow a trail of Moomba facts to learn more about this uniquely Melbourne event as you navigate through this website and the five festival precincts – Main Arena, Kids Zone, Skate Park, River and for the first time, The Green.
Enjoy free music, performance and activities at the Main Arena and in the Kids Zone; experience Moomba’s carnival rides for kids, the tame and the brave; realise new skills on the ramp with scoot, skate and BMX clinics at the Skate Park; see elite athletes battle it out for the Moomba Masters Championships titles at the River; watch a barrage of emerging bands at The Green; and witness the festival’s longstanding, iconic events – the Birdman Rally and Moomba Parade.
While making your way through the precincts you can delight in a range of food offerings including healthy options, international cuisine and traditional carnival fare. Whether you’re after treats like fairy floss, ice-creams and burgers, or nutritious options we’ve got you covered. Locations of food stalls and listings can be found on our site map.
Fireworks will be the grand finale to our headline performances on Saturday, Sunday and Monday nights. The best viewing spots for fireworks are on the river banks, at the Main Arena, or anywhere along Birrarung Marr and Alexandra Gardens.
