Day 13: Christmas events at Federation Square
12 December 2013
There’s always something going on at Federation Square, but you’ll notice things have become decidedly festive of late. In fact, we’re in the middle of a month-long Christmas-themed program of activities and events, called Spirit of the Square.

In The Pines at Federation Square
Urban arts group The Project has created In The Pines, a forest of 150 plastic Christmas trees, on the beautiful Kimberley sandstone Federation Square concourse. Don’t forget to bring your camera so you can take family portraits (and post them online using the #inbetweenxmas tag). Or come along on weekends between noon and 4pm, when The Project provides a free family portrait service.

The festive-looking Atrium at Federation Square
Coming up this Saturday 14 and Sunday 15 December, is the Festive Foodie Market, a celebration of festive tastes and flavours with plenty of food to eat as well as produce to buy, including honey from Fed Square’s own rooftop hives. From 11am to 4pm.

Then, on Christmas Eve, you can watch Carols By Candlelight live on the Big Screen with some extra entertainment thown in on the stage below for good measure (free, from 6.30-10.30pm). And if you’re away from home on Christmas Day, Federation Square’s putting on a special orphans’ Christmas, including free movies on the Big Screen from 11am to 6pm. BYO picnic hamper.
So there’s plenty to keep your Yuletide spirit going at Federation Square’s Spirit of the Square this year!
